Government Revenue Dataset (2021): Source selection (2021) | Download

We provide an overview of the underlying sources in the GRD and the criteria used in order to select data from them. In addition, details of the approach taken to merge sources within countries and across government levels are given. We also discuss exceptions to the source selection criteria.

Government Revenue Dataset (2021): Variable description | Download

This document specifically focuses on the composition of variables in the GRD (version August 2021) and across the underlying sources, namely the OECD Revenue Statistics, the IMF Government Finance Statistics, and the IMF Article IV Staff Reports. We provide the general rationale as well as the specific statistical tax codes of aforementioned sources for each variable included in the dataset.

In this technical note, we present the in-depth country-specific notes that accompany the GRD. Whilst these have always been embedded in the GRD’s Excel and Stata files, they are now contained herein, organized country by country in a more user-friendly format.
