This yearly conference serves as a meeting point for development economists active in the Nordic countries, but is also targeted more generally to academic researchers in Europe and beyond with a special aim to provide an arena for junior scholars to present their work.

Keynote lectures will be given by Professor Karen Macours from the Paris School of Economics and Professor Leonard Wantchekon of Princeton University. Leonard Wantchekon will also be speaking at the WIDER Seminar Series during his visit to Helsinki Friday 17 June (UTC+3 16:00-17:00).

UNU-WIDER researchers will present at the conference to share findings from several projects in our current work programme, including:

This year, the conference will be jointly hosted by Aalto University, the University of Helsinki, and the Helsinki Graduate School of Economics, and in collaboration with UNU-WIDER and the Labour Institute for Economic Research LABORE.
