African Tax Administration Forum Master Class in collaboration with UNU-WIDER
African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) through its Tax Academy organizes a Tax Research Master Class workshop in collaboration with UNU-WIDER. The workshop is held at the African Tax Research Network (ATRN) 8th Annual Congress on 1 September 2023, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The aim of the Master Class is to equip tax researchers in Africa with improved research skills.
The participants of the Master Class include researchers from revenue authorities, tax policy units of the ministry of finance, and the academia. The Master Class allows the participants to discuss and share innovative tax research methods as well as pertinent and contemporary topics of tax research. UNU-WIDER Research Fellow Amina Ebrahim attends the workshop as a facilitator and chairperson.
Among the presentations Ronald Waiswa (ATAF) introduced UNU-WIDER's SOUTHMOD tax-benefit microsimulation models and Ezekiel Swema (TRA) a WIDER Working Paper on tax examinations.
The workshop is part of UNU-WIDER's Building up efficient and fair tax systems – lessons based on administrative tax data project, which is one workstream under UNU-WIDER's programme on Domestic Revenue Mobilization (DRM). The DRM programme is financed by the Norwegian development co-operation agency Norad.
