The BOLMOD training, which is delivered in Spanish, is designed for current and prospective users of the BOLMOD simulation tool, including individuals from government offices, universities, and research institutes. The participants are expected to have a background in database management within statistical programs and a keen interest in issues of income redistribution.

This workshop aims to introduce participants to the BOLMOD simulation tool, highlighting its components, potential advantages, and various applications. The training will focus on analyzing the impact of public policies, including direct and indirect taxes and monetary transfers, on critical dimensions such as poverty, inequality, and fiscal balance. By the end of the training, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to utilize BOLMOD as a powerful tool in their work, making it highly valuable for public policymakers and researchers in Bolivia.

The BOLMOD training will be conducted in Spanish, catering specifically to a Bolivian audience. The event is a key component of the SOUTHMOD project, which is part of UNU-WIDER's broader research and capacity-building programme focused on domestic revenue mobilization (DRM). Funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), the SOUTHMOD project aims to enhance the capacity of policymakers and researchers by providing them with the tools needed to simulate and analyze tax and benefit policies.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with tax-benefit microsimulation models that combine household-level data with detailed tax and benefit legislation coding. These models allow users to simulate policy reforms, estimate beneficiary numbers, analyze prospective recipients' characteristics, and assess the impact of various policy scenarios on poverty, inequality, and government revenues. This training will empower participants to contribute more effectively to policy-making and research in Bolivia.

This event is part of the SOUTHMOD - simulating tax and benefit policies for development project. SOUTHMOD project is part of UNU-WIDER's research and capacity-building programme on domestic revenue mobilization (DRM), funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Co-operation (Norad).
