Researchers and civil servants from ministries in Namibia will gather on 11-13 October to learn about NAMOD, a tax-benefit microsimulation model for the country. The aim of the training event – organized by UNU-WIDER and SASPRI, and supported and hosted by UNICEF Namibia – is to promote NAMOD’s use in government for evidence-based policy-making.
In addition to learning the basics of the model, participants will understand how to navigate and interpret its user interface, how to run the model, as well as how to build and implement a basic policy reform.
NAMOD is part of the SOUTHMOD project – simulating tax and benefit policies for development, which uses tax-benefit models to analyse and compare different policy scenarios on poverty, inequality, and government revenues
