On 24-25 February 2020, 50 researchers and experts from UNU-WIDER, UONGOZI Institute, Tanzania and beyond gathered in Dar es Salaam to discuss the first drafts of the research papers to be produced within the collaborative research project on sustainable development in Tanzania. During the workshop the researchers received valuable feedback from the reviewers.
The objective of the project is to support the development and implementation of public policies that promote economic transformation and sustainable development in Tanzania and the Eastern African region. To achieve this goal UNU-WIDER is working together with UONGOZI Institute to create cutting-edge research knowledge, enhance research capacity and advance policy development to respond to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The research focuses on areas pertaining to macroeconomics, domestic resource mobilization, extractives, industrialization, sustainable livelihoods — with gender as a cross-cutting issue. The first research papers under the project will be published by June 2020.
