SOUTHMOD – simulating tax and benefit policies for developmentTheme: Inclusion
Professor Jukka Pirttilä, UNU-WIDER Non-Resident Senior Research Fellow, presented at a microsimulation seminar organized by the Ministry of Finance of Finland on 31 October 2018.
The goal of the seminar was to discuss the recent research done by using the SISU microsimulation model, which models the personal taxation and social security systems of Finland.
Professor Pirttilä presented on the SOUTHMOD microsimulation models, focusing on a study which used GHAMOD, the tax-benefit microsimulation model for Ghana, to simulate the impacts that expanding social protection would have on poverty and inequality.
