The 8th International Workshop on Domestic Revenue Mobilization was organized at the German Development Institute in Bonn on 1-2 October 2019. The topic of the workshop was 'Taxation and digitalization'.

As in previous workshops, the event brought together renowned scholars, government officials and other experts to discuss ongoing research in this area and assess its policy implications. Number of participants in the event was around 50.

As part of the programme Maria Jouste, UNU-WIDER Research assistant, gave a presentation on 'Do tax administrative interventions targeted to small businesses improve tax compliance and revenue collection? Evidence from Ugandan tax administrative data'. In her presentation Maria Jouste shared research findings which showed that taxpayer registration campaigns and easier filing form have increased formalization of small businesses in Uganda.

The presentation was part of the collaborative research project between Uganda Revenue Authority and UNU-WIDER.
