Mozambique Institutional Diagnostic study — presentation of draft report

Wed, 4 November 2020

On 4 November 2020, the Economic Development & Institutions (EDI) research programme together with the Inclusive growth in Mozambique programme held a public forum in Maputo, Mozambique, to present the draft report of the Mozambique Institutional Diagnostic (MID) study.

The draft report is the main output of the MID study, a unique collaboration between various international research institutions and local high-level analysts launched on 12 June 2019. The objective of the study is to explore the relationship between the characteristics and functioning of Mozambican institutions and its economic performance.

The MID study is part of the international research initiative Economic Development & Institutions (EDI), funded by the UK Government through UK Aid and managed by Oxford Policy Management (OPM). The nine thematic studies are also published as WIDER Working Papers.

The presentation of the draft report gathered together key stakeholders including policymakers, representatives of the private sector and civil society, legislative and judicial powers, and religious organizations to discuss the possible institutional challenges and bottlenecks to economic development in Mozambique.
