Households in Conflict Network (HiCN) is organising their 16th Annual workshop on 10-11 November 2020. UNU-WIDER's Senior Research Fellow Patricia Justino is the co-founder and co-director of the HiCN and will co-host the conference.

The event will include a presentation by Patricia Justino on the long-term economic legacies of rebel governance in Colombia, a WIDER Working Paper under the upcoming Institutional Legacies of Violent Conflict project.

The workshop aims to bring together innovative empirical and theoretical microlevel research that sheds a light on the nexus between pandemics, social unrest and violent conflict, as well as approaches to fieldwork during Covid-19, and perspectives on the impact of Covid-19 on people, households, groups and firms. Panels will also cover the usual topics of the Households in Conflict Network around the micro-level analysis of violent conflict. Target audiences include academics in the fields of economic development, social and political sciences, and conflict analysis.

Keynote speakers are Melissa Dell, Professor of Economics at Harvard University and Dr. Arif Husain, Chief Economist and Director of the Food Security Analysis and Trends Service at WFP.

Registration is open for a limited number of outside participants until 5 November, 2020.
