Wed, 3 April 2019
On 3 April, Ricardo Santos, UNU-WIDER Research Fellow, will give a presentation at a seminar at the Centre of Excellence for Development Impact and Learning (CEDIL) on ‘Vulnerability to Natural Shocks: Assessing the Short-Term Impact of Consumption and Poverty of the 2015 Flood in Mozambique’. The presentation is based on an ongoing study of the Inclusive Growth in Mozambique programme.
The study does a short-term impact assessment the of the 2015 floods on household consumption and poverty level, based on surveys before and after the events. It makes use of a unique household dataset, and contributes to the literature on short-term economic effects of natural disasters in developing countries.
