Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) development: Excel workshop

As part of the research collaboration with the Central Statistical Organization (CSO) of the Ministry of Planning and Finance of Myanmar, UNU-WIDER and the Development Economics Research Group (DERG) of the University of Copenhagen, a workshop was convened from 27 to 31 January 2020 at the CSO offices in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. Focus of the workshop was with training the CSO staff on the use of Microsoft Excel software for developing a 2017 Social Accounting Matrix (SAM).

The workshop was convened by Dirk van Seventer. The four-day event concluded with a discussion of outstanding issues regarding the finalization and documentation of the 2017 SAM data, as well as associated descriptive analysis.

The development of a Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) for Myanmar is part of the Towards inclusive development in Myanmar programme.
