UNU-WIDER DRM research presented at the 8th Annual Congress of the African Tax Research Network
African Tax Research Network (ATRN) organises its 8th Annual Congress on 29-31 August 2023 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Several WIDER Working Papers are introduced at the congress.
The topic of this year's congress is 'Contemporary Taxation Issues in Africa'. The keynote address is given by Hon. Prof. Adolf F. Mkenda, the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Tanzania.

Ian Mufana, Economist of Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), presents the WIDER Working Paper Assessing the impact of an intervention to withhold value-added tax in Zambia on Wednesday 30 August in the parallel session 'Other taxation issues'.
Abel Gwaindepi, Researcher of the Danish Institute of International Studies and Stellenbosch University, gives presentation on Taxation in the context of high informality in Sub-Saharan Africa, based on a WIDER Working Paper on Wednesday 30 August in the parallel session 'Promoting sustainable development in Africa through taxation'.
Amos Ibrahim, Economics Lecturer from the Institute of Tax Administration of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) and WIDER Winter School alumni, is one of the panelists at the Policy dialogue 3: 'Unleashing the wealth within: Harnessing Africa's natural resources through effective taxation'.
The presentations are part of UNU-WIDER's Building up efficient and fair tax systems – lessons based on administrative tax data and Government Revenue Dataset projects, which are workstreams under UNU-WIDER's programme on Domestic Revenue Mobilization (DRM). The DRM programme is financed by the Norwegian development co-operation agency Norad.
