Work-in-progress meeting on tax-benefit microsimulation model for Rwanda
As part of the SOUTHMOD - simulating tax and benefit policies for development project, a work-in progress meeting is held online between UNU-WIDER and the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) on 14 March 2022.
The objective of the workshop is to present and discuss recent progress and future plans for RWAMOD, a tax-benefit microsimulation model for Rwanda, which is being developed in collaboration with the Rwanda Revenue Authority, UNU-WIDER, and Southern Africa Social Policy Research Insights (SASPRI).
The topics of the workshop include general background on tax-benefit microsimulation modelling; related research being done at UNU-WIDER; the feasibility study on the Rwandan model; input data to be used for the model; and general plans on the modelling and collaboration. The second half of the workshop consists of general discussion between the researchers and RRA leadership.
The SOUTHMOD - simulating tax and benefit policies for development project is part of UNU-WIDER's programme on Domestic Revenue Mobilization (DRM). The DRM programme is financed by the Norwegian development co-operation agency Norad.
