UNU Statement on the Israel–Gaza Crisis
The United Nations University echoes calls for international humanitarian law and human rights law to be respected and upheld.
First and foremost, the United Nations University (UNU) sides with peace. When peace fails, it is imperative that human rights are prioritized and protected. We echo the statement by the UN Secretary-General: “Even wars have rules. International humanitarian law and human rights law must be respected and upheld.”
All sides of this conflict must do everything possible to ensure that civilians’ access to food, water, fuel, safe shelter and health care is not compromised or blocked.
Sustainable development is impossible without peace. UNU stands in solidarity with all UN agencies, Member States and organizations in their continuing efforts to support civilians caught in this conflict.
