Interview with David Richards – How to Measure Human Development?

The intricate dynamic between foreign aid to Africa, democratic transitions and consolidation is the topic of a series of research papers being published under the ReCom Governance & Fragility theme.
In this third interview of our video series with the contributors of the ReCom results meeting in Stockholm 10 May on Democracy and Fragility we talk to David Richards, Associate Professor at University of Connecticut and Co-Director of CIRI Human Rights Data Project, about different human development measures and how these could be improved, how setting up better data gathering systems in developing countries is crucial, and a concept of development based on human dignity. David Richards’ presentation at the ReCom meeting was titled interview ‘Measuring Human Rights: Some Issues and Options’.
