Asian transformations - an inquiry into the development of nationsTheme: Transformation
UNU-WIDER together with the Indian Permanent Mission to the United Nations and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) is organizing an event at the UN Secretariat in New York as part of the ‘Asian transformations – an inquiry into the development of nations’-project.
Director of UNU-WIDER Finn Tarp presents the ongoing work of UNU-WIDER, while Professor Deepak Nayyar discusses the UNU-WIDER research on economic development in Asia over the last 50 years and reflects on how the next 25 years might unfold. The participants are invited to take part in the dialogue to reflect on the possible future trajectories for Asian countries and feed into the current debate.
The event brings together relevant stakeholders from a number of Asian permanent representative missions to the UN and UN DESA economists working on issues related to development economics and political economy in Asia.
