Parallel session
Gender and employment

This session on gender and employment discusses the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and containment measures, on women’s opportunities, employment dynamics, time-use and wellbeing in a set of countries with already wide gender gaps, and relatively low female labour force participation rates (such as India and Turkey).

The session offers new evidence using the latests datasets and provides further gender insights regarding the most vulnerable and/or highly affected population groups in these countries. The panel of speakers will examine the kinds of problems and obstacles that working age women face in re-entering the labour market and improving their wellbeing, providing valuable advice for informed policy interventions.
