Sam Jones is a Research Fellow at UNU-WIDER based in Mozambique, on extended leave from his position as an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, University of Copenhagen. He is a versatile economist with expertise in macroeconomic analysis, development finance (including foreign aid), microeconomic empirical methods, education and labour markets. Sam’s work has been published in leading journals, such as Journal of Development Economics, World Bank Economic Review among others.

Haroon Bhorat | Presenter
Haroon Bhorat is Professor of Economics and Director of the Development Policy Research Unit at the University of Cape Town. His research interests cover labour economics, poverty and income distribution. He is a member of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC), holds a prestigious National Research Chair, sits on the advisory board of UNU-WIDER, and is a Non-resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Kudzai Mataba is a post-graduate student, reading towards a Masters Degree in Extractive Industry Law in Africa at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She holds an Advanced LLM in International Trade and Investment Law in Africa from the Centre for Human Rights in Africa. Kudzai previously worked as a researcher in the sustainable development and trade unit at the Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies in Pretoria.
She is now working as an intern at the International Trade Centre in Geneva in the SheTrades programme.
