Philippe De Lombaerde | Co-chair
Philippe De Lombaerde (PhD) is the Director ad interim of the United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS) (Bruges) since January 2020. He is also Associate Professor of International Economics at Neoma Business School (Rouen) since January 2016. Previously, he worked as Associate Director and Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS, Associate Professor of International Economics at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogotá), Researcher and Lecturer at the University of Antwerp, Researcher at the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) (Bangkok), among other appointments. He has widely published on international trade, comparative regional integration, Latin American and Southeast Asian regionalisms, globalization and regionalization indicators.
Ana Amaya | Co-chair
Ana B. Amaya is a Visiting Scholar at UNU-CRIS since April 2021 for a period of three months. She is also an Associate Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS since 2017. She was previously Senior Research Fellow and Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS from March 2014 to December 2016. She worked on the European Leadership in Cultural, Science and Innovation Diplomacy (EL-CSID) project, leading the UNU-CRIS work package that focused on exploring the effectiveness of the EU’s promotion of regional and inter-regional processes in the South through Science, Cultural and Economic Diplomacy.
Agnes Binagwaho | Presenter
Professor Agnes Binagwaho, MD, M(Ped), PHD is a Rwandan pediatrician who returned to Rwanda in July of 1996, two years after the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi. Since then, she has provided clinical care in the public sector, served the Rwandan Health Sector (2001-2016) in high-level government positions, first as the Executive Secretary of Rwanda’s National AIDS Control Commission, then as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, and 5 years as Minister of Health. She co-founded the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE), an initiative of Partners In Health, which focuses on changing how health care is delivered around the world by training global health professionals who strive to deliver more equitable, quality health services for all.
Obijiofor Aginam | Presenter
Dr. Obijiofor Aginam is a Visiting Research Fellow at UNU-CRIS. Dr Aginam is researching and writing a book chapter on ‘regional health governance’, and developing a capacity building proposal on ‘African perspectives on global health governance and diplomacy’. Prior to this position, he was Deputy Director and Head of Governance for Global Health at the United Nations University-International Institute for Global Health in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he is now a Principal Visiting Fellow. He is concurrently an Adjunct Research Professor of Law and Legal Studies at Carleton University, Canada and Visiting Professor at The Institute for Future Initiatives, University of Tokyo.
Roberta Andraghetti | Presenter
Roberta Andraghetti is the Regional Advisor on International Health Regulations at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and also has a supporting role to the WHO focal point to coordinate the collaboration between the institution and the Organization.
