EUROMOD research workshop 2024
The EUROMOD Research Workshop is an annual event that serves as a key platform for the microsimulation research community to exchange knowledge and research findings. The 2024 edition focuses on significant developments in microsimulation models and their applications. A special session, 'Global South Model Developments and Applications', will spotlight non-EU EUROMOD-based models.
Two presentations from UNU-WIDER will take center stage during this session. The first will offer an overview of the development of EUROMOD-based models outside the EU, including a discussion on SOUTHMOD and findings from the paper “Microsimulation of Tax-Benefit Systems in the Global South: A Comparative Assessment,” which utilizes all 13 SOUTHMOD models. The second presentation will feature a work-in-progress analysis on the resilience of Zambia’s tax-benefit system to extreme weather shocks, utilizing the MicroZAMOD model.
The workshop’s main goal is to share cutting-edge research with the microsimulation community. By engaging experts in discussions, the workshop will provide valuable feedback, enriching the knowledge base on tax-benefit microsimulation in both EU and non-EU contexts.
