UNU-WIDER 40th Anniversary Reception

In 2025, it is 40 years since the UNU-WIDER opened its doors. To mark this milestone, UNU-WIDER organizes a reception in Helsinki to celebrate the Institute with key stakeholders from its network in Finland. 

This by-invitation only event officially initiates UNU-WIDER’s 40th anniversary celebrations and will be a key moment to celebrate the impact of UNU-WIDER research at the global and UN level for the past 40 years. 

WIDER at 40 – The power of shared knowledge

The power of knowledge refers to the immense creation of knowledge on key development economic issues that UNU-WIDER has contributed over the past 40 years. The theme seeks to be bold and resonate in a current “infodemic” where knowledge is often questioned or undermined by misinformation. Here are WIDER, we always believed and will always believe that there is tremendous power in knowledge. Knowledge can shape policies, inform decisions, and change lives. We stand alongside other global knowledge creators in our aim to end the “war on science” and create a world where trust and solidarity prevail.
