Research Associate
Michelle Pleace is a Research Associate at UNU-WIDER, contributing to the Southern Africa - Towards Inclusive Economic Development program. Her work involves producing partially anonymized tax administrative data. Her research interests lie in behavioural economics and economic development, with a special focus on gender issues.
Michelle earned her PhD in Economics from the University of Pretoria in 2023. Before joining UNU-WIDER, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Pretoria, where she developed and taught the postgraduate course Economics of Gender.
