Distributional Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Zambia
UNU-WIDER's SOUTHMOD tax-benefit microsimulation team, in collaboration with the senior partners and national teams has undertaken a research analyzing tax-benefit policies during the first stage of the COVID-19 pandemic in five sub-Saharan African countries – Ghana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. This event introduces the results of the study for Zambia, taking advantage of the MicroZAMOD tax-benefit microsimulation model.
This event gathers the Minister of Community Development and Social Services Mrs. Doreen S. Mwamba, and personnel from different ministries in Zambia, other stakeholders, and researchers to discuss the Working Paper and the Policy Brief summarizing the main findings in Zambia. The team working outside Zambia takes part in the event virtually.
