Rahul Lahoti is a development economist with research interests at the cross section of gender, poverty measurement, inequality, social stratification and labour markets. He has worked previously as a Post-doctoral research fellow at ETH, Zurich and as an Assistant Professor at Azim Premji University. He obtained a PhD in Economics from the University of Goettingen, Germany.
At UNU-WIDER, he will be mainly working on the World Income Inequality Database (WIID), social mobility, and group inequality. His research aims to understand how social norms play a role in perpetuating inequality and immobility.
Rahul’s research has been published in journals such as Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Economic Inequality, Review of Income and Wealth, World Development, Feminist Economist among others.
